Quick Update & Pool Heating & Monday 5 May ON

1 May by Sam Bricknell

Hi all!
I Trust that everyone is having an amazing Thursday, and I cannot wait to see everyone on pool deck this afternoon with Billy and Jac!
I would first like to say thank you all for being here and this dry season being our first one at CAALC is proving to be a tester. Currently, the 50m pool temperature is sitting at about 25-266 degrees, which is perfect for those older swimmers, but those younger ones do tend to get a bit cold. We are combatting that, with today, starting some Mini sessions in the 25m Pool. Please know that Mini and Bronze will have separate sessions/days that they will be in the 25m pool, and will be interchanged on Monday, Thursday and Friday dependant on the set.
Please know that the 25m Pool will be used for training for Silver and Gold on a Tuesday and Friday mornings starting from Friday as well. I am hoping that this will entice more swimmers to those morning sessions as well!
I would like to add that I have been forever trying to get my mentor back on deck with us at Cas Storm, and we are so grateful to say that she will be on deck weekly from now on!
Her name is Elisha Hunt, and she is joining our coaching team to continue to mentor me, but also assist our swimmers in their development. She will typically be at a Friday evening training session, and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the coaching of swimming, and has a wealth of accolades behind her.
Further to this, she is really wanting to come down and observe and see what we are about at Cas, and whilst she is currently in and out of town, she is in town on Monday, and has freed up her afternoon to come down and coach with us. This means that this coming Monday, the 5th of May, training WILL STILL GO AHEAD, even though it is a public holiday.

Our next club night is on the 30th of May, and I will be having a parent information session on this day to outline a whole heap of things re: training and the upcoming competitive season from July – June. I will also be sending it out via TeamApp, but I will be outlining a lot of new things at this parent information session on the 30th of May, including different and new criteria for each squad.

The next swim meet is on the 10th of May at the Parap Pool, and is a Short Course Meet.
This means that they will be racing in a 25m competition environment, and increases capacity of turns and starts/dives/underwater work.
This meet looks as though it may go for 3-5 hours, and does include some fun little relays that I will be putting together! Please have your entries in via Swim Central ASAP. If you would like to speak to myself about how to enter, or what races your child should enter, please reach out and I will assist.

As always, keep up the good work, and I cannot wait to see what this next season has to bring!
